Just turned 54 and told I recently diagnosed with a rare cancer called carcinoid tumor/s and syndrome, not genetic, just the luck of the draw.

lois.kmI was diagnosed and treated at 17 (during year 12) and relapsed a year later (whilst on a gap year in Europe). I came back for treatment at Peter.Mac to discover that the cancer no longer responded to treatment and that surgery was my only option.
Now studying Arts/Law majoring in Persian (Farsi, spoken in Iran)and living on campus at the ANU in Canberra.

I was diagnosed in June 2003 and underwent chemo and have been well ever since then. I participate in the Rely for Life every year, which raised money for research.

TheJohansenFamilyI am the big sister of my younger brother who was diagnosed with uni-lateral RetinoBlastoma at the age of 5 weeks old. His eye was enucleated at 9 weeks old. During the past 2 years, he was diagnosed with Bi-Lateral RetinoBlastoma, and is now facing the effects of Vitreous Seeding in the Gel Sac of the eye. His left eye is Prosthetic, and he has a substantial amount of blind spots in his right eye. He has undergone several examinations under anasthesia, and is now up to his 3 year of chemo.

I manage the Chinese Cancer Society of Victoria on a voluntary basis. I have a social work/grief counselling background. I am also a health educator at the Cancer Council Victoria. I can speak Cantonese and Mandarin and write Chinese.

mummyI was originally diagnosed in Nov 07 with Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the lung. Had all my chemo and radiation and was told i was in clinical remission. Then in Dec 08 i had my routine scan and it revealled that the tumor had started to grow again which was a real shock because i had felt better than i have felt for years. I was put on Tarceva and things seemed to be coasting along okay except for the hideous rash but thats manageable now. I am also suffering with migranes and stomach pain, nausea and vision disturbances and have not got out of bed for about 5 days and am so thankfull for my baby who started school this year, She lifts my spirits everyday she races in to kiss me.....
I did find this site about a year ago and found it to be quiet helpful but then i fell into a deep depression and gave up on it but after many magic pills and coucelling i am ready to try it again.
I am a single mother of 1 who owns her own home on 5 acres and has 2 horses and 2 dogs and they are so much our family and my parents live about 200 metres away from us so i have a great support network. My daughter is the love of my life and i dont want to be anything other thatn her mother. Oh and a cancer survivor........ xx
