I am a Survivor - 9 years (rare Endometrial Cancer).
I have a firm faith in God, which has brought me through this experience.
Op - May 2002, followed up with Radiotherapy for 6wks Aug-Oct.
The cancer diagnosis was an absolute shock, everything became a blur & as I Iook back now I realise I went on to "auto pilot".
I keep waiting for the memories to fade and most of the time they have , until May or Oct rolls around, then the memories come flooding back.
My Oncologist was very skilful - one tumour was growing around a major vein (no blood units used), but thankfully not attached to the vein & the other within (both early stage -neither secondary).Other (Specify)I am a survivor
I'm 45 and was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer 3c. My surgery (ovarian debunking) was last Monday May 13th. I haven't even talked to my doctor yet about what treatment is right for me.
Right now I'm looking for complementary treatments (nutrition, meditation).
Of course, I'm anxious but I'm also confident after reading about women who were able to fight the disease and live for years. I want no less than 25 years more because I have two kids (one 10 year-old boy and 7 year-old girl) and they are my little carrots making me want to fight with all my strength to stay strong and healthy.
I also believe I can do a lot of good helping people with the disease and sensitizing women about this condition.
I hope to find and give support here.Ovarian cancerI have cancer

I am 62 years young and am the mother of an adult child with a Brain Tumour. I am finding it difficult knowing my place in this journey she has begun. Diagnosed in Feb, 2011 it has been a roller coaster in the last couple of years. It has taken all this time to finally get my head around the curve ball life has thrown our way. She is a very private person and really doesn't want to discuss this issue at all. On the other hand I am a believer that a problem shared is a problem halved. I do lots of research and she doesn't seem to mind this and relay to her what she may be interested in. She is not interested in other people's stories and only wants to know what affects her. I respect her way and do not tell her what to do. However I personally believe she would benefit with some counselling . She is 39 and has 6 year old twins and another son who will be 5 shortly. I would like to get involved with fundraising as this area is vital for research to hopefully one day have a cure. I want to use her profile to do this, I have done so with a petition she didn't seem to mind this as it was only to raise awareness in the public arena. I admit to having meltdowns now and then as a mother you are suppose to fix your child's ailments. I would take this on in a heartbeat if I could so she could live her life without the monkey on her back. I will be grateful for any advice.Brain tumourMy loved one or someone I know has cancer

At the beginning of 2011 I was not feeling quite myself, but being a single person who lives by themself, I had to keep going as I had to keep a roof over my head and pay the bills.
I thought I was just a little run down and a bit anemic, so I took some iron tablets and multivitamins, gritted my teeth and pushed on until I got to the stage where I couldn't cross the road without having to sit down and catch my breath.
At the end of April 2011 I was nearly at the point of collapse and was admitted to hospital and given blood transfusions after a blood test showed that I had a high white cell count and a low red cell count.
After 11 days of being prodded and poked, I was diagnosed with Auto Immune Haemolitic Anemia (AIHA), but during the prodding and poking, they had performed a PET scan, and this ultimately found that I had stage 1 endometrial cancer.
In August 2011, I had a radical hysterectomy and my cancer was sucessfully removed, without the need for chemo or radiation therapy.
Those were the worst four months of my life! In that short period of time, I had been diagnosed with a serious blood disorder which required me to take large amounts of steroids and immuno supressants to treat it, I was made redundant from my job, and had surgery to remove cancer.
My head was realing, and with a family who seemed to only support me by phone, I learned to focus on each bit of information as it came, deal with it and move on to the next bit.
In a way, I was lucky that I fell ill with the AIHA, otherwise we would not have discovered the cancer until a much later stage. And being made redundant took the pressure off having to return to work too soon so that I could take the time I needed to recouperate.
As I am an office worker, I was able to return to the workforce towards the end of October, and I now have a steady routine again.
I am currently in remission for both the AIHA and cancer.Uterus cancerI am a survivor
oooh, just me a ordinary past survivor of cancer and currently doing the treatment thing with another cancer! Bit more info on that one. Twenty one years ago i was diagnosed with secondary (lymph glands) amelanotic melanoma. Fortunately for me i outlived the medico's expectations. Now i have a squamous cell carcinoma in my tongue and throat. Have finished chemo now and waiting to do radiotherapy (commences next week on oct 1). Funnily enough October is the month i had my last cancer eradicated.
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear. And the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown" ~H.P.Lovecraft
I have to put this somewhere as i just found it and want to revisit it after i have pondered for a bit.

I was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer of the ovaries and cervix in Oct 2012 along with 2 other types of cells being endometrial and serous. I had a pap smear on 10 May 2012 and was sent a notice in the mail saying it was ok but at end of July my doctor received a letter to say they had made a mistake. We were away in Queensland at the time so when we came back at end of August I had several tests done and then on Oct 31 2012 had radical hyserectomy. After pathology cancer was found in my ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix and the only lymph node they could remove as there were too many blood vessels in the area. I started chemotherapy on 13 Dec and after 4 treatments they are going to do another PET scan. Then they are talking radiation after that but will wait and see what the PET scan shows. I had a PET scan at end of November 2012 and they thought something was showing on my left adrenal gland but after a CT scan the following week it showed all clear so that was good news. My hubby had bowel cancer 3 years ago so we have been through it all before. His cancer had spread into his bladder and 6 lymph nodes but so far he is going ok thank goodness.Other (Specify)I have cancer

Hi. I am 47 years old and was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer in August this year. No one in my family has ever had cancer so it was a shock to find out that I have the disease. Since then I have had one operation, 3 rounds of chemo and I am due to have another large operation in 2 weeks time. We (my hubby & 17 year old son) came to Australia 4 years ago so all of my family are still in the UK.I miss them a lot but have good support from colleagues and friends here. cancer and would love to just chat with others in the same position.Ovarian cancerI have cancer
I have the faulty BRCA1 gene and had fallopian tube cancer eight years ago. Three years ago, after the doctor had given me an all clear of the fallopian tube cancer, I had breast cancer.
I want people to know that BRCA1 will not only give you ovarian and breast cancers, it can also gives you fallopian tube cancer. So, please when you have your ovaries removed, remember to get your doctor to also remove the fallopian tubes.

I am interested in finding ways for this site to support personal writing by people living with cancer and their carers. Information sharing is good, too, and I like being able to do that. But my main interest here is in uncovering myself via writing. I want this blog space to enable me and others to do that.
Update: If there are people who start to share something as writers, rather than as information seekers or people with a specific communication need, then I think this site will add something to the process of recovery and living with cancer. Well, actually, I know that is the case already. The evidence is there. I'm getting a lot out of this.Multiple myelomaI am a survivor

I was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of breast cancer 21SEP09 aged 48 in my left breast. I found a lump when doing my monthly check and it was 2.2cm and in eight days had grown to 5.5cm. I had a fantastic surgeon in Dr Gail Molland and my personal choice was to have a full mastectomy immediately. At first we, Dr Molland and myself thought that would be it and medication for 5 years but whilst having the op the disease had invaded 10 lymph nodes. I did my six months of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation at Nepean, who by the way have the most amazing staff. I always have all my health and girlie things done in NOV/DEC and if I had of waited that 6-8 weeks I would of been dead by April 2010.
