Re: The Young Adult and Cancer Blog
Hi Gailleseive
I'm just wondering why you have posted this blog as part of a blog about young adults and cancer. Like breast cancer the average age for diagnosis of prostate cancer is late 60's and the distribution does tail down '40's for certain at risk groups. But it is hardly a cancer that affects young adults.
As for PSA testing, it would appear that for every study that indicates that PSA screening would be an advantage, there is another one that indicates that it would be of no advantage. Part of the problem is rather dumb use of the PSA test and the rush to treatment of PSA is elevated.
