lol harker ... i used to have carrot and apple juice with a little celery thrown in!
well, all I can say is that carrot juice with apple and ginger cures cancer, i don't actually have any evidence of this but I just know that it's true, deep down inside, why is the health industry so blind?
If only it were so simple. Personally i like carrot, beetroot, apple, celery, and lemon.......yum!Don't know if it cures anything but it sure gives you a boost!
Hi All,
This commercial post has been removed.

haha Harker ... evidence indeed! I think i may need to start juicing again and add ginger and perhaps raise it with some of vinouche's beetroot recipe!
Harker ... your toy has gone in the bin!
So what, let's keep going. THis is fun.
I got sent a shopping bag full of apricot pips by a concerned friend who had heard that they cure cancer. I left the bag on my desk for about six months before I threw it in the bin.
I also got lots of CDs with warnings on them like: "Do not operate heavy equipment after listening to this music" or "Do not make important life decisions after playing this CD".
I also had a friend who would have done some remote healing "if only she'd known earlier".
All of the above toys went in the bin, too, Jules2.
I do so like drinking carrot juice. I find it hard to pass one of those juice bars in the malls without getting a fix.
H
Hmmm now am wondering how far "remote healing" travels? What day is your bin day?
Julie
I believe "remote Healing" does travel across continents so go for it Julie. Like Harker I find it hard to walk past those juice bars.........in fact I don't walk past, I stop and get a fix each time! I had a friend who swore carrot juice got rid of his cancer but beware, he did start to look kind of orange after a few years!
Hiya vinouche ... sorry i had to race out this morning. I just reackon whatever floats someone's boat to get through all of this is ok! Just not sure i would risk anything alternative on its own, for myself that is.
Julie
"Remote healing" is a beauty, isn't it. I felt like punching that friend on the nose and saying "How dare you trivialise what I am going through like that!"
I think it's fine for people to give each other "cyber hugs" on this site, because we all know "digital support" is a very real thing. We wouldn't be here chatting without the cyber capacity, would we?
But to think that she could heal me after reading an email from me is bizarre. I didn't reply and haven't heard from her since.
Well, now I can't wait until the next stupid snake oil post appears. Perhaps we could make one up to keep the moderators on their toes? What do you reckon?
H
It does not matter how we try to explain what we are going through, people cannot understand the full impact and think they are helping with their stupid suggestions, I just tell them do what you want if it makes you feel better, at the end of the day it makes no difference to us. If these were really cures then there would be no more cancer in the world. Having said that I do strongly believe that our own minds and determination can do a lot.
Keeping moderators on their toes would be fun but I wouldn't want patients getting fooled by another "miracle cure"
Saw this conversation, thought I would add my little bit, had an unusual result with fresh juices.
Just before I started chemo, a friend who had completed chemo suggested I drink fresh juices.
I made her recipe of beetroot, carrot, orange, celery, ginger. Did this for a few weeks but started to experience migraines.
I have experienced migraines through my 20’s and 30’s but they had virtually disappeared in my 40’s.
Mentioned the migraines at my next chemo session, thinking the chemo maybe the cause.
Turns out I was drinking too much carrot juice and this was causing my migraines.
I cut down the carrot content and reduced the quantity of juice I consumed and the migraines disappeared.
In trying to help my body with chemo, I was actually drinking too much juice.
The lesson I learnt was moderation, drink juices by all means but in moderation.

Why is grapefruit so dangerous? I have been told not to have grapefruit by my pharmacist twice. On both occasions I was filling a new script. I can't remember what the scripts were, there have been so many. But it did strike me as strange that the humble grapefruit can counteract modern medicine in so many ways.
Does any one know anything about this? Is is a conspiracy by the pharmaceutical companies? The orange lobby?
H
Hey H
Not sure about grapefruit but i was told to drink green tea when i had my chemo ... reacts apparently.
Julie
G'day Harker
Many years ago I read an article in New Scientist about the effect of grapefruit and grapefruit juice - I took it along to my GP, who read it with interest, did some research and came back with the recommendation that I no longer have my daily grapefruit. Since the initial discovery reported in the medical literature and picked up by New Scientist in the article I read, there have been a lot of studies confirming this. Health authorities now warn about grapefruit juice. Apparently grapefruit juice alters the rate of absorption into the body for a number of drugs especially those for treating high cholesterol, depression, high blood pressure, cancer, pain, impotence, and allergies. (That about covers everything for me!!) By altering the rate of absorption you can end up with an overdose.
Problem for me is that I love grapefruit, we have a tree that is absolutely loaded and there is only so much marmalade one can eat. Anyone not one any of those drugs want some?
Cheers

Been out of touch for a few days and look what happens.
A spammer sets off a hilarious series of comments. reading the whole lot at once has been great fun.
Firstly Sailor, I would love the grapefruit but sorry - anti-ds for me. So I'm out!
I'm sorry, but I could never come at the carrot juice. I'm OK with fruit juice but I do like my vegies in pieces rather than mush. If I want mushed vegies, I'll bibble and sqeak please. Ok so this shows my age.
What is the reference to "remote healing"? Sounds like fun!!
Samex
Sorry about the typos. That should be bubble and squeak!!
S
samex .. how fitting you should do such a funny typo on such a funny thread!
Remote healing can be done via reiki and i guess other forms of healing, although am not absolutely sure on that one.
I know when i was having treatment i had some pranic healing done to me and omgosh when my knee started moving without the pranic lady touching it .... dooo doo dooooooo dooo! No explanation for that one!
Is certainly interesting stuff, although i am not sure i would be brave enough to use it on its own without modern medicine involved.
Julie
@ Sailor .. thats really interesting re grapefruit having that affect on medications. perhaps we all should go macrobiotic? lol Not sure about that one. I think you can make chocolate mouse (uncooked) with avocado.
Julie
Avacado mousse ? I don't think so!
When I can't have any chocolate it is certainly time to go!!!
s
Yay for the chocolate! Mousse is to chocolate as as brie is to cheese.
If you want avocado mousse try guacamole. In the meantime think of chocolate as one of the essential elements of food - and it does contain anti-oxidants.

@ sailor .. yayyy for choocy being antioxidental (new word?) any excuse i think!

I prefer carrot juice, with a bit of apple and a bit of ginger in it.
