FOS - Insurance Claim Dispute

An insurance company has ceased my income protection claim due to failure to supply requested information. However, some of the info requested is simply not available and other requests are unrelated to my income, so undoubtedly the dispute is headed for adjudication by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). I'd like to hear from anyone who had been down this path and can offer advice.
