Wazza

Wazza's picture

Hi everyone, It's merkel with an update on Wazza.

Wazza's been off chemo for nearly two weeks now. He's picked up a lot, still weak & a little unsteady on his feet. He's put on 3kg of the 6kg he lost.

Next thursday he starts his second cycle of chemo. His oncologist has cut back Cisplatin & Gemcitabine by 25%. Were hoping he won't be as ill as last time. I'll let you know next week how he's coping.

It's a tough road to travel, no matter how positive we try to be, we still have our down times.

Take care all, Merkel & Wazza

Re: Wazza

Hello,
Well, I had a liver scan done. While having it done, I was asked if I have ever had problem with my gall bladder. Anyhow, the scans show that I have a gall stone, looking back at my old scans I had one show up in the scan that showed that I had the cancer tumour. Hadn't done anything about it, so I suppose this is the same one. I am due to see a specialist in a few week's time.

I saw my gyno last week, pleased with how everything is. Also Dr King a few weeks ago too, she is the surgeon for my bladder op. I am pleased that everything is going well, I only have to see Dr Hogg next January then July and then it will be annual visits. I honestly, if it makes sense, don't feel as if I had cancer after reading about other people's stories. Been told that my cancer was very big and that I have been through a lot, but I honestly don't feel like that I have. Does that make sense?

Kelly is now 14 weeks pregnant. I still feel that it is all too unreal that she is actually going to have 3 babies all at once.

It was our 42nd anniversary last Tuesday and Tom arranged for 42 roses to be delivered to me. They were lovely. Will send you an email with some photos.

Best wishes to you both.

love from your Penrith friends

Best wishes to Wazza and yourself Mary. Thinking of you.

Re: Wazza

Hi All,

Wazza started his second cycle of chemo last week, with 25% less Cisplatin & Gemcitabine, he was a bit better this time round.Yesterday he had only gemcitabine. Driving into the hospital we had to stop a few times so he could be sick.

He's been able to eat more this time round, still weak, losing weight & the feeling of nausea really gets him down. We don't think it's the cancer affecting him as much as the chemo is taking it's toll. We can't wait to have a CT scan to see if the chemo is doing any good.

It's so hard to see a man fading away who was so big & fit, he was at the gym three times a week.

Some good news, were going to be grandparents again for the 5th time, the baby is due on my birthday.

Take care all, Merkel & Wazza

Re: Wazza

Hello Wazza & Merkel,

Hope everything is going well for you both.

Have been really busy over the last few months, but it is slowing down now, so I should be able to keep in contact more.

I am due to see my gyno in a couple of weeks time. Had a blood test this week, seems a problem with my liver so have a scan on that next week.

Kelly is now 12 week's pregnant with the triplets. Yesterday's scan shows the single one is 6.6 cm long (about the size of a disposable cigarette lighter) the twins are 6.17 and 5.67 cm long. Next scan is the three dimensional.

Catch up with news again soon.

Love Bev & Tom

Re: Wazza

Hi Merkel and Wazza,
Our heart goes out to the both of you, and our thoughts and prayers are always with you both. I just cant imagine how it must feel, being an adult, and knowing the full length behind "cancer". Josh is only 4, so he knowno different, and i guess, in a way, its a good thing.

Yes!! the 2 minute noodles seem to be a fav of chemo patients, i think its so cute!!!
Josh also enjoys lemonade ice blocks after chemo, and of course, he has this thing for chocolate.

Its great to hear that Wazza has gained 3 of the 6kgs lost, we do hope he puts on the full 6.

It was very nice to hear from you both, and we are sending our warmest thoughts and strongest prayers to you both.
We will keep in touch, as we are always reading to see how you're both going.
Enjoy your night Smile

Love from
