Two of the boys are out of humidicribs now. They are two weeks old today, hard to believe that we were waiting at the hospital waiting anxiously for their birth. The smallest one, he was 2lb 8oz unfortunately he has a very bad cleft palate, but that can be corrected with surgery when he is around 6 months old. His name is Mason Gordon - Gordon was my dad's name.
Well, if you have ever read my profile you can see that I have a great family history of cancer. My grandfather and father both had bowel cancer and when I had mine they related it to that. I have annual colonoscopy and every second year have a gastroscopy. I am due for both again this December. Last week my mum was told that she might have bowel cancer too, or it could be something else that I have and that is diverticular disease of the bowel. One of mum's sisters also had bowel cancer a couple of years ago as well as her other sister with breast cancer. On dad's side of the family an uncle also had lung cancer and his two children had cervical and pancreatic cancer. Gee, what was my chance of escaping it?
I feel that having cancer has made me a better person, more confident in how I face things, though I have always been told that I have a very positive outlook on life. I am going to have my gall bladder out in two weeks. Gee, I am on the organ donor's list for when I pass on, but the way I am going there won't be much left of me to donate. ha ha ha.
No, I am not whinging, just feeling like to share with someone.
Enjoy your twin grandchildren, do you have any others? We have a grandson and grandaughter from our son, Callum has mild autism with moderate learning and his sister has asperger's (another form of autism). Lovely children.
