No time to waste

So there are many things in this world that I cannot change or modify - all I can do is be in charge of myself, my thinking and my actions. I have struggled a few times in the last few days with staying on track with positive thinking especially after a day of extreme nausea + vomiting and hardly any sleep. However I am now back on the positivity train in this roller coaster ride.

I've realised there is no time to waste in life especially when you are sick. Firstly we have set a date for our wedding for Oct this year. I am already madly planning things - already have a dress, venues researched for reception and ceremony, celebrant also decided upon. I have not felt so focused in months.

We have bought a video camera to capture fun times with family and friends. I think these memories are so important especially for Dan (just in case I am not one of the 10% who survive 5 yrs later). Having the camera around has already brought so many laughs and great memories. I have found it helped me refocus when I am feeling down and remember that there is so much more to my life than this horrible cancer.

So the weekend just passed has involved some drinking antics and dancing which we have all on tape. It's funny what things we get up to at a BBQ. So there is no time to waste and I plan to have a lot more fun before I start my chemo on Thursday.

"Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent." ~Carl Sandburg

Re: No time to waste

Good on you Rubes for having such a positive attitude. Your upcoming wedding will give you something positive to work towards.

With an attitude as you have the chemo will be no probs to you. My wife had 48 sessions of chemo, one every 2 weeks and she still managed to write and get 2 books published.

Hi Rubes

I love to see your positive attitude coming through in your writing. It is important to enjoy and make the most of every moment, whether sick or well. Any of us could 'go under a bus' tomorrow, so we do have the benefit of understanding that importance more so than most.

"God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change,
the courage to change the one I can,
and the wisdom to know it's me."

Good blessings and warm hugs, Pamela Smile
