The first post here is very silly. Whoever Clifford O is should perhaps say something himself instead of being lazy and just cutting and pasting medical journal articles that are boring and irrevevant to the personal interactions and discussions on this site.
I've had a break, am loaded up with ham sandwiches and am in a fighting mood.
You don't have to wait long, less than 24 hours. Finger length ratios have also been shown to Help Predict Test Exam Results, Homosexuality, Cancer, Musical Ability and Aggressive Personality if you believe what you read on the web: http://www.viewzone.com/fingers.html
However a serious study has shown that there is a correlation between finger length ratios and sexual orientation - good enough to be published in Nature. (Terrance J. Williams, Michelle E. Pepitone, Scott E. Christensen, Bradley M. Cooke, Andrew D. Huberman, Nicholas J. Breedlove, Tessa J. Breedlove, Cynthia L. Jordan & S. Marc Breedlove (2000), “Finger-length ratios and sexual orientation” Nature 404, 455 - 456 ) The study that Clifford O has mentioned and this one on sexual orientation both postulate that pre-birth exposure to androgens could be the reason.
Note my language "could be" and "correlation". when you do a statistical analysis many things can correlate, it doesn't say that they are linked or predictive. They have made a hypothesis that needs to be rigorously tested. Some correlations go on to be established - cigarette cancer and smoking, other good correlations break down when tested.
One of the best correlations there ever has been was with the nesting of storks on chimneys in Northern Europe and the arrival of human babies - it was almost 100% and had stood for centuries. It collapsed in the 1950's with the arrival of electricity and electric lighting. Human beings then could indulge at any time of the year in those activities that formally they had indulged in in the long days and warmth of mid-summer.
So I assume that if we link Clifford O's findings and those from the study in 2000, we can get a co-correlation between sexual orientation and prostate cancer! That would be dangerous!
