Basics of life

<none>'s picture

Hi. I do not have cancer. I have undiagnosed Wilsons Disease (or something like it). I am 55 and have spent the last 35 years looking for answers and trying conventional and unconventional medicine. I used to think that we created our conditions both physical and emotional by our thought patterns but now I'm not sure because in the last year I have had great success with using vitamins and minerals, nothing fancy, just stuff that comes from the supermarket, pharmacy or health food shop. As my physical health has improved so has my mental and emotional health. The guy I see uses hair analysis and blood tests to diagnose. He understands the way elements of the body work with and sometimes against each other. I believe knowledge is the key to understanding and improving the health of your own body and the best you can do for yourself is to find someone who will work with you and educate you. I hope this is helpful for someone.

Hi Think Basic

I'm wondering why you are on this site. Wilson's disease is a genetic disorder that prevents the body from getting rid of copper. so you end up with a build up of copper in the liver and damage to the liver and nervous system. It is a genetic condition so it is present from birth and although there is no cure for it it can be managed. It is fairly readily diagnosed, so I am wondering why you say you have undiagnosed Wilson's Disease. If it is Wilson's Disease and it has been untreated then it is unlikely that you would have lived to age 55.

Wilson's disease and Menke's disease are both genetic disorders to do with copper metabolism within - basically uptake or excretion of copper. We all need a bit of copper for certain essential enzymes to work, but normally the body is pretty good at getting rid of what is not needed and stopping uptake of too much. In both these diseases there are inheritable genetic defects that mean this doesn't happen. These are well understood, and management of them well understood.

All of this is fairly basic Genetics 101 stuff and these two disease are often used as examples.

So if you are not affected by cancer, I suggest that you go and find another site that is more specific to whatever it is you have.

Cheers

Sailor.
