So, how do I tell my family I'm dying?

So, without going in to great detail at this moment, I have just told my partner how much time I have left, and now I have to tell my family.

So, how do I do this? I was hoping I'd have 4 weeks up my sleeve until my next doctors appointment, but my partner snooped around too much and found out that something was very wrong - so I had to tell him...

Now I just have to tell my aunt when she gets home...tonight. The funny thing is that they all thought I was a drug addict and didn't have cancer at all. If only that was the case.

I'm just not sure how to tell her the gruesome truth.

my dad has cancer

I am so happy tonight- even though dad is on morphein and we have had a HORRIBLE few weeks- I am going by train tomorrow to spend a few days with my precious dad and he has said to me that he wants us to go to our favourite places for lunch/dinner- he said even though he can't eat I don't have the right to take away his pleasure from seeing me have a good time. I will try and respect his wishes but it will be so so hard. I am just so lucky to have the special dad that I have and that makes it even harder as he thinks more of me than he does himself.

Hubby's brain scan results are in.

Nothing new showing up. GREAT.

Some reduction evident. GREAT.

No issue with swelling. GREAT.

So why don't I feel great???

Morphine patches

Hi there. Just wanting to know if anyone has been given morphine patches. My 83 yr old dad with oesophageus cancer has been given them today and I don't know what that means!!! He seemed quite high tonight. Does that mean they are giving him them as they don't think he has long to go. I am really lost.

Is it all in VaIN?

VaIN 1 Stage 0 (pre-cancer) is the official term.

“VaIN is more common in women who have had a hysterectomy for cervical or other related cancers”

Yes it can be managed and although it is pre-malignant and has not developed into cancer it can alter the current cells (possible is the word of the day). What worries me somewhat is that is the ’second’ issue relating to a tumour/pre-cancer in 12 months. How long is this going to go on for I suppose is like asking how long is a piece of string…

My husband has cancer, it is killing him and in the process killing our family.

It is a slow process, a cruel process, there is no part of our life that has remained the same since cancer entered it. Every day in some way, a little piece of the life we knew disappears.

Innocence has been lost, carefree attitudes have been replaced with worry, energy has been replaced with constant fatigue....and so it goes on.

i thought things were going really well for us lately but now i know i was just living in a little world of my own.

my sister who has beat breast cancer twice has just been diagnosed with mesothelioma and has the biggest battle on her hands.
they have given her two option, 1. 3 months of chemo, then operate, then 3 months of chemo again. but then they tell her she may not make it through the op. option 2 is 6 months of chemo then operate.

Hi there!

Does anyone know of anyone who completed treatment(tamoxifen) and had children after breast cancer and didn't have a reocurrance?
Also the ones who didn't complete treatment(tamoxifen)and had children too?
Would like to hear your stories if that is ok?

My Mother has Rhabdomyosarcoma

I have no idea even where to begin here...I guess I'll just spill my guts and let it all out. My Mother has a rare cancer usually found in Children or young Adults, she is 77 years of age and has Rhabdomyosarcoma. It's as big as a grapefruit and started growing on her groin then into her stomach. The Doctor spoke with my sister who lives in Victoria and had told my sister my Mother had two days to live, that was nine days ago.
